The Truth Most People Overlook
I wouldn’t try to overcomplicate this. Heaven and hell is a choice. You can have it however you really want it. That may sound blunt, but at its core, it’s truth. The gospel is not confusing or hidden behind layers of mystery. It is clear: what you choose—who you choose—determines where you end up. Scripture makes it plain that there are only two paths, two kingdoms, two destinations. There is no middle ground.
Grace Found Me, But I Didn’t Always Choose Wisely
It’s easy for me to say now, “give it all up for Jesus,” but I didn’t arrive at that place overnight. There was a time when everything revolved around me—my wants, my desires, my way. I indulged in what felt good. I took my time, assuming there would always be more of it. And while I thought I was enjoying life, I was actually wasting time—time I didn’t even realize was precious. If not for grace, I might not have had another chance.
That’s the part many overlook. We assume we can always come back later, always fix it later, always choose God later. But later is not promised.
The Same Temptation, Different Generations
I often think about when the enemy tempted Jesus, taking Him to a high place and showing Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory, offering it all in exchange for worship. Power, influence, status—everything laid out in one moment.
And if I’m honest, that same kind of offer didn’t look too far off from the life I once imagined for myself. Success on my terms, fulfillment without surrender. But eventually, I had to confront a truth that cannot be avoided: there are no three options. It is one way or the other. Heaven or hell. It really is that simple.
The Danger of Treating Jesus Like an Option
What I see often today is people treating Jesus like an option—like He will always be there waiting, no matter how we choose to live. Like He can be placed on hold while we explore everything else first.
I recognize it because I used to live that way. I was the queen of it. Parties, clubs, alcohol, relationships that had no foundation, all while leaving prayer for later. Living a lifestyle completely contrary to God, yet still expecting Him to show up for me when I needed Him. I barely opened my Bible beyond a quick devotional, and even that was inconsistent. I was too preoccupied for Jesus, while quietly hoping He would never be too busy for me.
Your Choices Are Seeds With Consequences
The reality is this: our choices are not neutral. They are seeds. They produce outcomes. They carry consequences. The direction we choose determines the destination we reach. And one day, we will all have to answer for how we lived.
That truth isn’t meant to create fear—it’s meant to bring clarity. Because once you understand that your life is moving in a direction based on your decisions, it becomes harder to pretend that everything is random.
Conviction vs. Comfort
Conviction is a powerful thing. It can feel uncomfortable, even heavy at times. But what’s more dangerous is having no conviction at all—living in a way that is clearly outside of God’s will and feeling nothing about it. Making up your own truth, your own definitions, convincing yourself that it’s enough.
But Scripture reminds us there is nothing new under the sun. The patterns we see today have always existed, and so have the consequences. God has not changed. His standards have not shifted to match culture.
The Price Has Been Paid, But a Response Is Required
And yet, in the midst of all of that, there is still grace. The victory has already been won, and the price has already been paid. Jesus made a way for us to choose differently. Eternity with Him is available—but it is not automatic.
It requires a response. A decision. A willingness to surrender.
Believing in Jesus is more than words. It means following Him. Trusting Him. Stepping out in faith, even when it feels uncomfortable or uncertain. It means picking up your cross daily, not just when it’s convenient.
Transformation Is the Evidence of Choice
Transformation is the evidence. It’s like going to the gym—you can say you’re committed, but if nothing changes, something isn’t adding up. Consistency produces results. Effort produces growth.
You cannot live one way and expect a completely different outcome. Change is required.
Final Choice: Where Will You Go From Here?
If you are reading this, you still have time. Time to choose. Time to turn. Time to be transformed. But don’t confuse time with permission to delay.
Heaven and hell is not random. It is not accidental. It is a decision.
And that decision… is yours.
