Stop Trying To Make Mars Happen | Fortify the City

If something can be proven, tested, or measured, it is accepted. If it cannot, it is often dismissed or labeled as uncertain.

Over time, this has shaped how people view truth—not just in the natural world, but spiritually as well.

Because when science becomes the highest authority, anything that exists outside of it begins to feel unnecessary.

And for many, that includes God.

Faith becomes optional.
Mystery becomes uncomfortable.
And anything unexplainable becomes something to question instead of something to seek understanding about.

What used to be approached with reverence is now approached with skepticism.

What used to be explored with humility is now often examined with the expectation that it must fit within human logic.

And when it doesn’t, it is either rejected—or redefined.

When Knowledge Becomes the Standard

The word “science” comes from the Latin scientia, meaning knowledge.

Knowledge itself is not the issue.

Growth in understanding, discovery, and learning are all valuable. They are part of how we navigate the world and make sense of what is around us.

The issue begins when knowledge becomes the only accepted pathway to truth.

Because not everything that is real can be measured.

Not everything that exists can be observed in a controlled environment.

And not everything that is true can be explained through human reasoning alone.

There are realities that go beyond what can be tested.

There are truths that require faith, not formulas.

Yet culture often leans toward the idea that if science cannot explain something, then it must not exist.

That way of thinking slowly removes space for God—not all at once, but gradually.

It replaces dependence with self-reliance.
It replaces faith with certainty.
And it replaces reverence with control.

The Drive to Go Beyond Earth

Humanity has always been driven to explore.

From the earliest discoveries on land to the depths of the ocean, there has always been a desire to go further, to see more, and to understand what lies beyond what is already known.

That same drive extended into space during the 1950s, when the United States and the Soviet Union raced to explore beyond Earth.

It was a pursuit of discovery—but also a pursuit of dominance, advancement, and possibility.

Since then, technology has advanced, research has expanded, and interest in space has only increased.

Today, conversations about Mars are no longer distant ideas—they are active pursuits.

With figures like Elon Musk pushing toward the possibility of life on Mars, the goal of leaving Earth has become something people are seriously preparing for.

Colonization. Expansion. A second home.

But in all of this movement forward, there is a deeper question that often gets overlooked:

Is this aligned with purpose—or driven by ambition?

Are we exploring within the boundaries God established…
or trying to go beyond them?

What Scripture Says About Creation

The intentionality of God is revealed from the very beginning.

In His design of creation, He establishes the greater light to govern the day, the lesser light to govern the night, and sets the stars in place.

None of these elements are random or disconnected—they operate within a deliberate order set by God Himself.

Nothing in creation is accidental.

There is structure, purpose, and divine alignment in how everything is established and sustained.

Reflection

When we look at creation, we see order—not chaos. We see design—not randomness. And we see boundaries—not limitations, but intentional placement.

Fortify the City challenges us to consider that not every pursuit of advancement is neutral. Some pursuits reveal ambition, while others reveal alignment.

The question is not whether humanity can explore, discover, or build.

The deeper question is whether, in doing so, we are still acknowledging the One who established the foundation of it all.

Because even in the pursuit of what is beyond us, there is still One who is above all things.

And when that truth is forgotten, exploration becomes elevation of self rather than recognition of Creator.
