Jesus Is Not A Third Party | Fortify the City

For many, Jesus is acknowledged as a moral teacher, a spiritual figure, or a historical reference—but not always recognized as central to salvation.

In some conversations, He is even treated as a “third party” in faith—separate from God, separate from authority, and separate from the core foundation of belief.

But Scripture does not present Jesus that way.

The Foundation of Who Jesus Is

John 1:1

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

From the very beginning, Scripture establishes that Jesus is not secondary to God’s plan—He is fully integrated into it.

He is not an addition to salvation.

He is the source of it.

The Word Made Flesh

John 1:14

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us…”

This is where theology becomes reality.

Jesus is not distant, symbolic, or external to God’s work. He is the manifestation of God’s truth revealed in human form.

This means salvation is not just a concept—it is a person.

Why the “Third Party” View Is Inaccurate

When Jesus is reduced to a secondary role in spiritual belief, it creates a separation that Scripture never introduces.

It frames salvation as something happening around Him instead of through Him.

But biblically, there is no separation.

Jesus is not an intermediary in the sense of distance—He is the bridge itself.

The Centrality of Christ

Fortify the City challenges the idea that Jesus can be placed on the margins of faith.

Because if Jesus is removed from the center, the structure of salvation collapses.

He is not optional.
He is not secondary.
He is not external.

He is central.

A Shift in Understanding

This episode calls for a re-centering of how we understand Christ.

Not as a distant figure in religious history—but as the living foundation of truth, salvation, and reconciliation between God and humanity.

To acknowledge Jesus correctly is to recognize His full authority and identity as revealed in Scripture.

Reflection

Faith is not built around multiple disconnected figures or ideas.

It is centered on Christ.

And when that foundation is misunderstood, everything built on top of it becomes unstable.
